Module 5 – Discipling Others into Deeper Life and Mission

Thanks for signing up for Module 5 – Discipling Others into Deeper Life and Mission. Here’s a brief intro video to acquaint you with the topic, and then a brief summary of the format we will be following.

Intro Video

Flip Classroom – Teaching Format

The format for these modules is what they call “flip-classroom.” Normally in a class you go to the lecture and then you do the homework assigned. A “flip classroom” style is exactly the opposite. The teaching is pre-recorded and you listen to it first as your homework, then you come to your online class and discuss what you’ve watched, ask questions and breakout into groups for further prayer and application. Each module is spread out into four sessions and will include about 1.5 hours of homework between sessions in preparation for a 1.5 hour Zoom class or small group to discuss and pray into your findings. Your class preparation will consist of 2 things: 1) Watch video teaching segments, 2) Do tasks – Which will include a variance of Bible reflection exercises, Journal Entries, Activation exercises and missional responses. You will be committing to a minimum of 12 hours for each module. Of course, you can do more – but that should give you a feel for what is involved.

What will you need? You will need a computer that has access to internet, and has a camera and a mic set up so you can participate online. We are asking you to get a journal, have a Bible and follow along with the handout that you will receive online.

Summary of the fifth module

Jesus said to his disciples, “Freely you have received; freely give.” All the healing that you have received is because Jesus loves you full stop. But as we become more like Jesus, our heart breaks for the lost world and for those who are hurting. In particular, we often are drawn to others who have suffered in ways that we have. In this module we will be focusing on how to give away what we have received.

Theme: Ministering Healing with the Holy Spirit – follow along on pages 7-9 of your notes

4. What is an obstacle or a presenting problem facing you these days? Walk through the “Ministry Guide” on page 8 inviting the Spirit to lead you through the steps. Journal your experience.

5. Journal Entry: What is new information? Do you have questions? What is going on in your heart? Journal what you are sensing.

6. Treasure Hunting – Every person on this earth is a treasure to God. Our call is to find them and let them know how valuable they are to Jesus. At the beginning of your day ask Jesus to bring to your mind anyone He wants you to bless that day. Ask Him to reveals to you His heart for that person. Then set out into your day expectant to obey His promptings. Come to class ready to share your experience of hunting Spiritual Treasure.
