Module 4 – Breaking Free from Strongholds
Thanks for signing up for Module 4 – Breaking Free from Strongholds. Here’s a brief intro video to acquaint you with the topic, and then a brief summary of the format we will be following.
Flip Classroom – Teaching Format
The format for these modules is what they call “flip-classroom.” Normally in a class you go to the lecture and then you do the homework assigned. A “flip classroom” style is exactly the opposite. The teaching is pre-recorded and you listen to it first as your homework, then you come to your online class and discuss what you’ve watched, ask questions and breakout into groups for further prayer and application. Each module is spread out into four sessions and will include about 1.5 hours of homework between sessions in preparation for a 1.5 hour Zoom class or small group to discuss and pray into your findings. Your class preparation will consist of 2 things: 1) Watch video teaching segments, 2) Do tasks – Which will include a variance of Bible reflection exercises, Journal Entries, Activation exercises and missional responses. You will be committing to a minimum of 12 hours for each module. Of course, you can do more – but that should give you a feel for what is involved.
What will you need? You will need a computer that has access to internet and has a camera and a mic set up so you can participate online. We are asking you to get a journal, have a Bible and follow along with the handout that you will receive online.
Summary of the fourth module
When Paul was giving instructions to the early church, he made repeated references for them not to be ignorant of Satan’s schemes. He especially taught that they were not to give the devil a foothold. In our western world where reason and intellect have ruled for centuries, we often think we are immune to demonic influence. For those that have lived overseas and come out of different religious backgrounds, this is not as much of a surprise. One of Satan’s biggest tactics is to tempt us to open doors to him so that his forces can come in and wreak havoc in our lives. One of his schemes is to get us to believe that the stuff we are wrestling with is all ours, leaving him to roam about undetected. In this module, we will examine Biblical truth about the spiritual realm and look into how it affects us. We will identify open doors that need to be closed and talk about how to get free and stay free.
Sessions
Preparation for Session 1
Theme – Understanding the Spiritual Kingdom – follow along on pages 1-6 of your notes

4. Watch a News cast online – inviting the Spirit to open your eyes to what worldviews are at play. Ask the Spirit to open your spiritual eyes to discern the Spiritual kingdom at play. Journal your findings.
5. Journal Entry: What is new information? Do you have questions? What is going on in your heart? Journal what you are sensing. Remember your journal is to be an ‘uncensored’ safe place where you can pour out your heart to God. Hold nothing back.

Theme: Jesus’ Ministry of Freedom – Follow along on pages 7-12 in your notes

4. Read Mark 1:1-6:13 making note of every mention of the demonic kingdom. What insights do you glean from your reading?

9. Journal Entry: What is new information? Do you have questions? What is going on in your heart? Is there a trusted friend with whom you could share your story? Take a few moments to meditate on Romans 8:1-17 – resting in the truth that God loves you knowing everything about you

4. Journal Entry: Which of the components of “Staying Free” will be easiest for you? Which one’s may you need to invest more time and energy in? Journal your heart to the Lord. Listen for any words of encouragement / scriptures; He may drop in your spirit. Write them out in your journal
